The Criminal Defense Process

Criminal Law Attorney Boise, Idaho

As a former prosecutor and experienced criminal defense attorney, I have in-depth knowledge of the legal system. I use this knowledge to help my clients understand the criminal defense process, and to build strong and effective defenses.

I am Gerald Bublitz, and I represent people facing a wide range of criminal charges in Idaho state courts. These include a wide range of both felonies and misdemeanors:

For any of the charges above, you need a good criminal defense lawyer — someone who can provide a hard charging criminal defense that gets results. Call my law office at 208-344-5500 to get started.

The skill and dedication of your criminal defense lawyer can make a critical difference in the outcome of your case at each step of the way. Regardless of where you are in the criminal defense process, getting a lawyer involved can be a good decision.

Many cases start with an arrest. After the person is brought into custody, they attend an arraignment. The arraignment is where the defendant hears specific charges being brought against him or her, and can plead "guilty," "not guilty" or "stand silent."

The process may then lead to a meeting between the prosecution and the defense called a pre-trial conference. This is where your criminal defense attorney can discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your case, as well as factors like your good reputation or reliable history.

Your attorney may also engage in plea bargaining, where he can negotiate with the prosecutor to have charges dropped or reduced. Many cases end in a plea bargain. Those that do not may proceed to trial.

To discuss your criminal defense options, call me at 208-344-5500 or send e-mail today. Initial consultations are free and confidential.
